Background
PEDN – Ministry of Education and Sports Partnership and UNICEF Uganda: Since 2020, PEDN is implementing the Life Skills Toolkit Training for teachers and adolescents across 38 districts of Uganda in partnership with UNICEF Uganda, the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and various District Local Governments that are working in partnership with UNICEF Uganda.
PEDN is contributing to Capacity Building and Assessment Support and is empowering teachers with the knowledge and skills to use learner-centred training methods of the MoES Life Skills Toolkit (2022) while training adolescents (10 to 19 years). In some instances PEDN conducts the Life Skills Toolkit training for adolescents in school, out-of-school, at Remand homes and young people with disabilities.
Objective: Adolescents in Uganda will be supported to develop critical competencies such as decision-making, empathy, respect, problem-solving, and resilience – skills that are essential for academic success, healthy relationships, and navigating future opportunities.
By building teacher capacity, this initiative strengthens the education system’s ability to sustainably deliver Lifeskills training and directly contributes to Uganda’s efforts to prepare young people for life, learning, and work.
