Entrepreneurship Training For Youth
PEDN conducted entrepreneurship trainings at the PLA training and skilling centre focusing on self-discovery, financial literacy,entrepreneurship, keeping financial records, marketing, branding,communication and customer care. A total of 42 female vocational students (15 and 19 years) developed social enterprise plans to contribute to solving community needs.
Green Ambassadors in Schools Program
In a partnership with JOINT ENERGY AND ENVRIONMENTAL PROJECTS (JEEP), PEDN goes into school clubs to present sustainable ways of income generating, starting with a soap production.
JEEP teaches about sustainability and how to produce the soaps, while PEDN uses the example of how to sell the soaps to teach about financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
The goal is that through building up their own small business the students learn entrepreneurial skills in a practical way and moreover learn a new method of income generation.
Youth Learning Without Borders
The Youth Learning Without Borders (YLWB) project aims at empowering socially and economically young people in Uganda through training in
Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL), Child Protection
(CP), Financial Literacy (FL) and hands-on skills training. The project targets 2500 learners 8-14 years in primary four to six in 50 public school clubs in Jinja district. The training isdelivered by the teachers using PEDN facilitators’ club manuals, learner journals and SUNDAY VISION newspapers, in which PEDN publishes one article per week adapted to the Club curriculum, under the Newspapers in Education pull-out.
Schools As Integrated Platforms For Service Delivery To Adolescents
Using the MoES-UNICEF Uganda Life Skills toolkit, PEDN through the
SIPSDA project is reaching 8,100 adolescents in Isingiro
district, 10 to 19 years. The program is carried out in 90 schools and
60 community groups, of which 10 schools are in the refugee settlements Nakivale and Oruchinga.
AFLATEEN + pROJECT
Reaching 4,000 youth. PEDN is delivering a Financial and Life skills curriculum in Term one and two of 2019.
SNV CRAFT Internship Support
SNV Uganda CRAFT program partnered with PEDN to provide internship support to 21 graduate interns placed at agribusiness companies in 15 districts of Uganda and at SNV offices. Besides the employability skills and knowledge of climate resilient techniques gained at the companies, PEDN provided mentorship, career guidance, performance reviews and entrepreneurship training from January to June 2022.
